Coastline Music Festival

Music Festival in Our Town

Sunday Zack and I went to The Coastline Music Festival at Cruzan Amphitheater. It was nice to go to something local for a change and also it was a bit different than the EDM festivals we are used to going to. The headliners were Passion Pit, Two Door Cinema Club and Matt and Kim. I was also excited to see The Neighborhood, Capital Cities and Fits and The Tantrums. We also got to see The Joy Formidable and St. Lucia who are up and coming bands that were also pretty good.
The weather was great! It was nice and breezy and sunny but not cold and not too hot, so a perfect day to be outside enjoying music. I got to wear my new dress and Zack called it my cape since the breeze did a lot of blowing it around when I walked.
As the festival went on it became more crowded with people and the autograph, food and drink lines became nice and long. Zack and I both purchased items from a very hippie-like clothing tent. Zack got me a nice long summer dress with great purples and blues a Baja hoodie for himself.

Moonfest 2013

In Costume

Saturday night we got all done up in our costumes and went to Moonfest on Clematis in Downtown West Palm Beach. None of my friends were able to come so I ended up out with Zack and all his friends and they're always a good time so we had fun.
My costume this year was Wednesday Addams I got my dress online and the rest I had at home already besides some white face make up to make me a little pale. My makeup was as difficult to apply as I thought it would be and I have to say it all came out really well and I loved it.
Zack originally had a white sheet with eyes and a mouth hole cut out to go as a ghost. After spending the afternoon with his friend Jon they came up with a different idea for a costume. They decided that Jon would be Miley Cyrus and Zack would be the wrecking ball. Once we got them both in their costumes we took a video with Jon on Zack's shoulders and the two of them swaying around to the Miley Cyrus song. Keershaw and Justin joined us to go to Moonfest. Justin as a Banana and Keershaw as David Beckham complete with Tattoos.
Moonfest was nice and packed when we got there. We parked in a garage for $10 which is actually less then I expected so that worked out. We first went to rooftop and I was pretty excited when I started getting compliments on my costume and a few girls asked to take a picture with me. My costume was a big hit with the girls. Guys didn't get what I was all that much.
Every place was pretty busy and there were a lot of great costumes.

Being a Volunteer for Dachstoberfest

2nd Annual Dachstoberfest, West Palm Beach

Sunday was The Second Annual Dachstoberfest held in Downtown West Palm Beach on the Great Lawn. I signed up to be a volunteer a little while back and was put in charge of helping them find vendors. We ended up with 15 vendors not including the food vendor and Dachshund Rescue South Florida. There were lots of cute doggy vendors selling bandanas and leashes and collars, art vendors, vendors selling doggy doors and dog walkers and doggy boarding vendors. All the proceeds raised from vendor fees and doxie dash race entries went to DRSF. The local Dachshund rescue organization.
I arrived nice and early to help set up and help the vendors get setup in the right place. The event started at 9 am and the dachshunds and their owners started showing right around that time. The races started at 11 am and went on for most of the event. There were several different categories for the races including Puppy, Adult, Seniors and Wannabees. Following the races there was a costume contest and even though it was a nice and hot day the little dachshunds showed up in their best outfits.
There has been a lot of positive feed back about the event so far and all the dachshunds seem to have enjoyed themselves. I'm sure I'll sign up to be a volunteer again next year.

Sensation Miami

Ocean of White

All White Everything :)
Saturday we went to Sensation in Miami and it's funny to think I first blogged about it way back at the beginning of Summer. Saturday morning I woke up and packed my bag, then Zack and I  went and picked up Mark from  work and headed down to Miami. We got there quicker then we had expected and our room wasn't ready at the hotel yet so we went and had something to eat at Bayside and walked around a little. The hotel was perfectly placed with Bayside right across the street and American Airlines Arena being right across from Bayside.
When we got up to our room and opened the curtains we had an amazing view and could see Bayside, the arena and the water. I'd say we got pretty lucky!
Once we got ready and made our way over to the arena it didn't take very long to get in so we checked out the setup. There were two deluxe platforms both had bars and there were two seated sections for deluxe ticket holders as well. There were free t-shirts for us to take home in the seated area.

Salvador Dali Museum

Check That off My Bucket List

Salvador Dali Museum St. Petersburg, FL
On Labor Day after we packed our things and said good bye to Robbie and Chloe we made our way to St. Petersburg. After my bad directions and a few circles around the down town area we found a parking spot and a place to have lunch. The restaurant we ate at was called The Moon Under the Water. When we were done with lunch we got back in the car and went to The Salvador Dali Museum. If you remember that's an item on my Bucket List the first real checked off item since I created the blog.
The Dali in St Pete is has the second largest collection of Salvador Dali Pieces in the world other than a place right in his home town. Zack isn't a big fan of modern art or abstract but he seemed to be more interested in these pieces than most. There's so much going on it each piece how could you not be.

Girls Trip to the Keys

Kellsie's Birthday Weekend

Saturday Shannon, Ashley, Kelly and I went down to Islamorada in the Keys to visit and hang out with Kellsie for her birthday. It was pretty exciting to pack up and go on a somewhat last minute girls weekend trip. It was also super nice of Kellsie to invite up and her family to let us all stay with them at the house they had rented down there.
Girls Trip :)
The trip down there was a little less than three hours and we spent most of the way up listening to Ashley drive Shannon crazy and yelling at David the GPS who prefers not to be called Dave and interrupts good songs while you're singing. We did a great deal of road trip karaoke mostly to old songs which is always the best and I recorded some funny video's on Shannon's phone.
We made it to the house and got all our stuff in the house and it looked a little more like we were staying for a week rather than one night but that's always how girls pack. The house was really nice and was on a water way in a cute little neighborhood.

I Won the Contest!

I Won Tickets to See Dillon Francis at Revolution

A couple weeks ago I saw that Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale posted a contest to win tickets to see Dillon Francis an EDM DJ perform at their venue. It was an Instagram contest where you had to take the face of Dillon Francis and put it on another picture. They called it The Francis Face Swap. You then had to upload your submission to Instagram and use the hash tag #Francisfaceswap. I decided to go ahead and give it a try and see if I could win the tickets. And you know what?? I did win the tickets!
My Francis Face Swap Submission
I went to Google and found a good head shot of Dillon Francis and I at first replaced one of the faces on Mount Rushmore. I had trouble uploading that one to Instagram though so I made a second picture. I edited the background out until I just had his head and put it on the Lincoln Memorial. This one uploaded to Instagram correctly and I uploaded it with the hash tag.
When Zack saw my Instagram post for the contest he decided he wanted to do one too. His picture was the face of Dillon Francis on a T-Rex body acting as a DJ. The picture also had the Revolution Live logo in it as well as Dillon Francis name on the front of the DJ booth. I thought it was pretty cool and even liked it a little more than mine. There were also a few other submissions I thought were pretty funny including Dillon Francis as a power ranger, a bare bottomed baby and as one of the Hansen brothers.

Sand Bar in Delray

Checking out a New Place in Delray

We went out last night and we didn't spend our whole Sunday in bed. Aren't you just so proud of us?? I am! When we woke up Zack asked if I wanted to do something and of course I did.
Tommy invited us to the beach with him and Brittney.
Once we made it out to Delray it took a while to find a parking space but we did and the guy even gave us the left over hour he had on his parking ticket. We went to Sand Bar first and sat at a table and ordered drinks. I got a margarita and Zack got a tropical daiquiri with a floater. The place is right across the street from the beach and has a really neat atmosphere similar to Rum Bar in Gardens.
We did run into one problem though. Even though we were partly under an umbrella the sun was still on us and it was pretty hot. We were on our second round of drinks by the time Tommy and Brittney showed up and went out to the beach when we were done. The drink's were about $10 each and the price wouldn't have been so bad if there was a good amount of alcohol in them. usually after two margarita's I'm in my happy place but I didn't feel much.
We spent the rest of our time on the beach and I went in the water. It was pretty much the perfect temperature. I'm so happy the sun is out I would much rather be laying on the beach than sitting inside watching it rain.

Boca Muesum of Art

I knew it was going to be a rainy weekend, but I was determined to not let that slow me down. I just could not have another weekend trapped inside doing nothing. Zack texted me suggesting the Boca Museum of Art. I hadn't ever been to that sounded pretty good to me. We picked up Mark from work and took him to change, from there we all went to the museum together.

The museum was right in Mizner next to their amphitheater. It had two floors and the first floor is all of their current exhibitions. It included The Grooms Room which is work by Red Groom and was pretty comical it had scenes of normal people but it was large painted plastic stuffed pieces. I guess you'd have to see it yourself but it was pretty funny and interesting. When we went upstairs to their permanent collections Zack and Mark were immediately drawn to a canvas was large rings of yellow and orange circles and spent a good amount of time walking into it like an illusion. I tried it out myself and it was pretty mesmerizing. The overall experience was pretty good it turned out to be the perfect rainy day adventure.
We hung around the gift shop for a bit checking things out and I went through all of the flip books and then made Zack do the same. Outside of the gift shop in the lobby they had an old an old cigarette dispensing machine called the Art-o-Mat that now dispenses little pieces of art. I got a lavender scented monster and it has all the information of the lady who makes them. Including her Etsy incase my monster gets lonely and I need to get him a friend. Zack and Mark both got blocks of wood with inspiring quotes on them and Zack got another block of wood with a painting of a turtle on it. I like my little souvenir and now she's sitting on my desk keeping me company.
Tommy and Sean met us at Mizner and we all had Yard House for dinner.

Making my Office Green

When I started at this office back in May I noticed how much paper gets thrown in the trash and how many times I needed to print things out and then throw them away and print it again. The last job I had we had a giant shred box that got recycled after and I liked looking at the receipt because it had a number on it with a percentage of how many tree you were saving.
So I sat down and googled how to get a recycling bin for our office. I was directed to the Solid Waste Authority and sent a request for information on recycling to through their web page. The next day I was contacted with all the information I needed and I wrote up a memo to my boss and attached the contract he needed to sign to have not only a recycle bin added to our office but a recycle bin added to the plaza so that all the offices could start recycling, which is even better if you ask me.
My boss filled out the contract soon after I gave it to him and I sent it to SWA. I was then contacted by Gary from SWA is the recycling manager and he came out to discuss the new recycle bin. We ran into an issue because the area we had to put the recycle bin was too small and we had to downsize our trash bin in order to make room. I wrote another memo to the boss and he had me call Republic services to change the size of the bin. We reduced the size of the  trash bin and had them make the pick up twice a week now that we have a smaller bin. Once I faxed over the request Republic services changed out the trash bins and a week later our recycle bin was dropped off.
Gary from SWA came and canvassed the plaza bringing all the offices recycle boxes for the offices and explaining about the new recycle bin. Even though it didn't take me long to type out the process it was a good amount of time and phone calls and faxes and emails that got it done. I'm excited that I saw something I didn't like and I made the effort to fix it. Everyone in the office seems to be on board with the new program too.
